Why vegan?

The SA Vegan Society and Health24

Friday, 27 May 2011 12:10 Last Updated on Friday, 05 August 2011 12:10

Recently Health24.com has published two articles about Veganism that we at the South African Vegan Society consider to have been totally misleading and indicative of a lack of understanding surrounding Veganism on their part.

The first article entitled "Vegans' elevated heart risk requires Omega-3s and B12" was published on April 8th 2011 but contradicts the study that it is based on.

The 2nd article published by Health24 on the 12th of April, which was alarmingly called "Do vegan diets endanger child health?" unfairly linked Veganism to the death of a French child. The Vegan Society released our own response to all the claims made in the article.

The South African Vegan Society was then given an opportunity to have a lengthy discussion about Veganism which you can read here. We encourage you to read the article and take part in the debate going on in the comments sections.

We would like to thank Health24 for allowing us to be heard again, and we hope that they will now be able to present the facts about Veganism to all of their readers.
